Intersections Media - An Overview
Intersections is a non-profit, digital filmmaking skills development program that works with at risk youth. The program’s ultimate goal is to provide employability skills to help transition youth into continued education and/or sustainable employment.
Intersections was created by Vancouver film producer Bill Vince in 2007. Its projects are designed to teach employment skills and life skills, while inspiring creativity, positive personal development, and healthy lifestyle choices in its participants. Bill’s objective was to build a template for the program in Vancouver that could be migrated to other cities in Canada.
Intersections’ programs reach a broad spectrum of youth located throughout Vancouver with an interest in film and visual arts, but facing multiple barriers to gaining experience and employment in these areas. Supported by film industry mentors and role models, Intersections introduces the young participants to opportunities for personal, creative and career development through film and video production.
In addition, by introducing a wide variety of people to the challenges and vitality of Vancouver’s inner-city community, Intersections hopes to engage more people and businesses in making positive contributions to the heart of our city.
