Entry Level Employment Opportunities in The Film Industry

EMPLOYMENT PATHWAYS

Production

In film and television, Below-the-Line (BTL) refers to the highly skilled crew members who bring a production to life through technical expertise, craftsmanship, and logistical coordination. These are the individuals who work across a wide range of departments to physically build, light, shoot, dress, feed, transport, and support the production on set and on location.

Many BTL careers begin with entry-level opportunities. These roles offer hands-on experience and pathways into specialized union departments with long-term career potential.

Post Production

Below-the-Line (BTL) Post-Production roles are essential to completing a film or television project after principal photography wraps. These skilled professionals work behind the scenes to shape, enhance, and finalize the story for audiences through editing, animation, visual effects, and audio.

Post-production is a collaborative, deadline-driven environment that demands both technical precision and creative problem-solving. It often takes place in studios, post-production facilities, or remotely, and includes both union and non-union positions.
