Filmmaking and Employment Pathways

Through the Digital Media Workshop, participants receive a comprehensive understanding of BC.'s film industry; an introduction to the process of film making (concept, development, preproduction, production, postproduction and delivery process).

On-Location Film Making

Marginalized youth often have limited or no understanding about the process of Film making.

Intersections provides a practical on location film making experience.  Working with an experienced Producer, participants create 2 short films from concept to completion.  This opportunity introduces Intersections participants to the role of each department and the options in entry level employment opportunities.

Industry Certifications

Youth from underrepresented communities often cannot afford or do not know the industry-recognized certifications required to work on film sets. Intersections provides participants with core certifications essential for safety and employment. These certifications eliminate a major employment barrier and enhance the participants' readiness to work in the Film Industry.

Industry Software Training

Many participants lack access and training of filmmaking software which is required to achieve entry level employment in a chosen employment pathway. Intersections Workshop provides the access and training required for entry level employment positions in most employment pathways.

Post Production in Process

Employment Readiness

Intersections Workshop provides one on one guidance for each participant to establish an overall employment pathway to achieve their long- term employment goals. The Employment Readiness Curriculum also provides participants with resume building skills and teaches them how to write applications and prepare for interviews.

Film Industry Partners, Mentors and Guest Speakers

Intersections participants generally lack personal connections within the industry making it difficult to access opportunities or receive guidance from working professionals. Through Intersections strong partnerships and mentor network, Intersections provides the opportunity to meet with industry leaders (unions, studios, film commissions and key industry associations) and guest speakers from many sectors in the film industry.These introductions provide opportunities for participants to establish contacts to achieve entry level employment in the Film Industry.
